Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops brings the stealth series to the PSP with a mission-based structure. You control Big Boss, working through a series of areas rather than one continuous map, sneaking past guards, using close quarters combat and hiding bodies to avoid raising alarms. The defining system is recruitment: instead of only eliminating enemy soldiers, you can knock them out and drag them away to bring them onto your side, then assign the recruits to squads and take them into the field as playable characters with their own strengths. Managing that roster becomes part of planning each infiltration, since different personnel suit different tasks. The story is told through cutscenes and radio conversations, and continues the events surrounding Big Boss after his earlier missions.
