Mobil 1 Rally Championship is a rally driving game for the original PlayStation, based on stage rallying rather than circuit racing. You drive point-to-point special stages against the clock, with a co-driver calling upcoming corners, crests and hazards as you go. Surfaces and conditions vary between stages, so grip changes and car control matters as much as outright speed, and damage or a bad line can cost you a run. Events are structured as rallies made up of multiple stages, with times combined to decide your overall standing. Handling is weighted toward the demanding end, rewarding braking early and using the co-driver's calls rather than memorising the road by trial and error alone. Single-player time-based competition forms the core of the game.
