Mortal Kombat 3 for the PlayStation is a conversion of the third arcade installment in the fighting series. It keeps the digitized fighters and one-on-one, best-of-three round structure, and adds the features introduced in MK3: a run button, chain combos, multi-level stages you can uppercut opponents through, and the Kombat Kodes entered at the versus screen to alter matches. Finishing moves include fatalities, along with the game's Animalities, Babalities and Friendships. Single-player play climbs a tower of opponents, while two players can fight each other locally. Stages from the arcade version are reproduced with their hazards and secret encounters. Special moves use directional motions with attack buttons, and the control layout maps punches, kicks, block and run to the PlayStation pad.
