Based on the MTV claymation series, Celebrity Deathmatch is a 3D fighting game in which caricatures of famous figures beat each other apart inside an arena. Matches are one-on-one, with punches, grapples and weapon pickups, and the arena itself factors in through hazards you can use against your opponent. Fights build toward gruesome finishing moves in the exaggerated clay style of the show, and commentary plays over the action in the manner of the television broadcasts. Alongside single fights you can work through a series of bouts against a lineup of opponents, and two players can face each other directly. Presentation leans on the show's crude humor, dismemberment gags and between-round announcements rather than on technical fighting-game depth.
