MTV Sports: Skateboarding is a trick-based skating game for PlayStation. You skate through open environments, linking ollies, grinds, grabs and flip tricks to build combos and score, working against timed runs and lists of objectives in each area. Levels are laid out as skateable spaces with rails, ramps, ledges and gaps to find lines through, and completing goals opens up further content. A rock and hip-hop soundtrack and MTV-styled presentation frame the action, in line with the network's sports series. Control is built around holding a direction and pressing a trick button, with balance handled during grinds and manuals. Alongside the goal-driven main mode you can free skate to learn the layouts, and multiplayer options let two people trade runs.
