N2O: Nitrous Oxide is a tube shooter for the original PlayStation. You pilot a ship down the inside of winding tunnels and open corridors, viewed from behind, moving around the circular walls to line up shots while the ship travels forward automatically. Waves of insect-like enemies swarm toward you, and you collect power-ups that upgrade your weapons and add temporary abilities such as shields and spread fire. Each level builds toward a larger boss enemy that must be shot down before you can continue. The visuals lean on bright, abstract geometry and heavy lighting effects, and the game is paired with an electronic soundtrack that plays throughout the action. Scoring rewards chaining kills and surviving without losing ships, with the pace increasing steadily as tunnels grow more crowded.
