NASCAR Thunder 2003 is the original PlayStation version of EA Sports' stock car racing series, with licensed NASCAR drivers, teams and circuits. You race single events or take on a season and career, running qualifying and pit stops as part of each weekend. Settings for race length, damage, assists and AI difficulty let you decide whether a race is a quick sprint or a longer contest where tyre wear, fuel and pit timing matter. Car setup options cover gearing, suspension and aerodynamic balance. Drafting and traffic awareness are central to the oval racing, and contact damages the car in ways that affect handling. As a late PlayStation release, it runs at lower visual detail than the same year's newer-console versions. Split-screen racing is available for two players.
