NBA ShootOut 2000 is an entry in the PlayStation basketball series, offering licensed NBA teams and players in five-on-five games. You control one player at a time, running offensive sets, shooting from outside, driving the lane and contesting shots on defense while the AI manages your other four players. Exhibition games sit alongside a longer mode in which you guide a team through a full schedule and into the playoffs, with player and team statistics recorded. Rosters, lineups and substitutions are managed from menus, and difficulty and quarter length can be adjusted to change the pace and scoring of a match. The game presents the action on a 3D court with selectable camera views, commentary and broadcast-style overlays, and supports head-to-head play for two players.
