Need for Speed: ProStreet on PSP moves the series away from illegal night racing toward organised events held on closed circuits and strips. You build a driver career by entering race days made up of several events, competing for points across disciplines that include grip racing on tracks, drag runs, drift scoring and top-speed runs on long straights. Cars are licensed road and tuner models, upgraded with performance parts and given visual treatments including paint, vinyls, body parts and wheels. Damage plays a part in the presentation, so contact and crashes carry consequences within an event rather than being shrugged off. Between events you manage your garage and choose which car suits each discipline. The handheld version is built for shorter sessions, with events selectable individually as well as through the career structure.
