One is a side-scrolling action game for the PlayStation. You play as John Cain, a man whose arm has been replaced by a powerful cannon, working his way through enemy forces while trying to piece together what happened to him. Play combines running, jumping and climbing with constant shooting, and the camera pulls back and pushes in as you move through levels rather than holding a fixed frame. Enemies arrive in waves from multiple directions, so aiming and positioning matter alongside platforming. Boss encounters cap off stages and require you to learn attack patterns. The presentation leans on cinematic camera angles and cutscenes between missions to carry the story forward. It is a straightforward, combat-focused game built around a single weapon and a lot of enemies.
