Pandemonium is a side-scrolling platformer built with 3D graphics along a largely two-dimensional path, so movement follows a set route while the camera swings around the level. You choose between two characters: Nikki, an acrobat who can double jump, and Fargus, a jester who tumbles and rolls, each handling slightly differently across the same stages. Levels wind through fantasy environments filled with pits, moving platforms, enemies to jump on and hazards timed to trip you up, with the winding camera often revealing paths that loop behind and above you. You collect items along the way and reach a goal at the end of each stage. The mix of fixed-path platforming and 3D presentation puts the emphasis on timing and precise jumps rather than free exploration.
