A rhythm game in which you command an army of small, one-eyed creatures by drumming. Each face button corresponds to a drum, and you tap out four-beat commands in time with the music to make your Patapons march, attack, defend, retreat or use other abilities, chaining commands accurately to build a fever state that boosts their performance. Missions send the tribe across side-scrolling stages against rival armies, giant beasts and environmental obstacles, and success depends on keeping the beat as much as on your army's strength. Between missions you recruit and equip units from different classes, spend materials gathered from hunting and battles, and unlock new abilities and gear. The art style is flat and silhouette-based, with bright colours, minimal shapes and chanting vocals woven into the soundtrack.
