The third entry in the drumming rhythm-strategy series. You issue orders by tapping four-beat patterns on the face buttons in time with the music, sending your Patapons forward, attacking, defending or using special abilities, with accurate chains building a fever state that improves their performance. This installment puts more emphasis on role-playing systems: you lead a small party built around a customisable hero who can switch between classes, gaining levels, equipment and abilities as you progress rather than fielding large ranks of identical units. Missions take place across side-scrolling stages with enemy armies, bosses and hazards, and gear and materials are collected along the way. The game also supports multiplayer, letting several players take their heroes into missions together. Presentation keeps the series' flat silhouette art and chanting soundtrack.
