Sentient is a science fiction adventure played from a first-person perspective aboard a space station in orbit around a star. You arrive as a health inspector and quickly find yourself dealing with a station in crisis, moving through corridors, hubs and cramped technical areas while systems fail around you. Interaction is handled through a conversation system that lets you question crew members, gather information and decide who to trust, alongside machinery and controls you can operate directly. Much of the game is about piecing together what has happened and working out how to keep the station and its inhabitants alive, and events can unfold differently between playthroughs. The interface is dense and the game expects you to experiment, take notes and learn the layout of the station rather than follow a single fixed path.
