Star Gladiator is a 3D weapon-based fighting game from Capcom with a science-fiction setting. Fighters wield energy weapons, from swords and staves to more unusual armaments, and matches take place in enclosed arenas where you can sidestep and move around your opponent as well as move along the traditional two-dimensional plane. The roster mixes human warriors with robots and other unusual designs, each with their own reach and weapon behaviour, and rounds are won by depleting an opponent's health or forcing them out of bounds where applicable. Alongside the standard arcade ladder, the game includes versus and training options. Character endings and story sequences fill in the conflict driving the tournament. Presentation uses polygonal models and voiced fighters typical of Capcom's late-1990s 3D output.
