Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max is the PlayStation Portable version of Capcom's 2D fighter, based on the expanded Upper revision of Alpha 3. Matches use the six-button punch and kick layout mapped to the handheld, fought as best-of-three rounds on side-view stages. You choose an -ism for each character, altering your super meter rules and access to Alpha Counters or Custom Combos, and a Guard Power gauge punishes long stretches of blocking. The roster is larger than the original arcade version, adding fighters brought in from other Capcom fighting games. Single-player content includes the arcade ladder and the World Tour mode, where you take a fighter through matches with special conditions and earn upgrades, along with training and score-attack style options. Two systems can be linked for head-to-head play.
