Strider 2 is a side-scrolling action game for the PlayStation, converted from Capcom's arcade release. You again play as Hiryu, slashing with the Cypher while sliding, wall-climbing and somersaulting through stages. The game uses polygonal backgrounds and effects alongside sprite-based characters, with camera work that rotates and shifts as stages progress, and levels that scroll vertically as well as horizontally. Enemies attack in numbers, and stages end in large boss battles, several of them multi-stage set pieces. Hiryu's moveset is built for constant motion, letting you attack while hanging, jumping or dropping, and the pacing keeps you pushing forward. Like the arcade original, it is a relatively short game designed around replay and improving your performance across its stages.
