Summoner is a fantasy role-playing game for the PlayStation 2 in which you control Joseph, a young man marked with rings that let him call forth summoned creatures to fight alongside him. You travel with a party of companions across towns, wilderness areas and dungeons, switching between characters and issuing commands in combat that blends real-time movement with menu-driven attacks, spells and abilities. Summoning is the central mechanic: binding and calling different creatures gives you access to powerful allies in battle, though using them carries a cost. Character progression covers stats, spells and equipment for each party member, and the story unfolds through extensive dialogue and cutscenes as Joseph confronts the consequences of his power. Expect a long quest structure with plenty of exploration and conversation between fights.
