Sydney 2000 is an officially licensed Olympic sports game built around a selection of Summer Games events, including track and field, swimming, weightlifting and shooting disciplines. Each event is a short self-contained contest with its own control scheme: some rely on rapid button tapping or alternating presses to build speed and power, others on timing a jump, release or trigger pull, and others on holding steady aim under pressure. You can compete as athletes representing various nations, take part in full competition modes that string events together for medals, or practise individual disciplines on their own. Multiplayer support lets several players trade the controller between attempts. Presentation follows the format of a televised broadcast, with stadium crowds, national flags and medal ceremonies between events.
