Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams is a 3D action platformer starring Tak, a young shaman apprentice from a jungle tribe. The story sends him into a dream world, and gameplay moves between waking and dream environments as you explore, fight enemies and solve light environmental puzzles. Tak runs, jumps, climbs and swings through themed areas, using melee attacks along with juju magic and animal-related powers to reach new ground. Levels hide items and secrets that reward exploring away from the main path, and boss encounters cap off sections of the adventure. The presentation is bright and cartoonish, with comedic dialogue and tribal-inspired art. This PlayStation 2 release is the console version of the sequel, built around 3D exploration rather than side-scrolling stages.
