Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on PlayStation 2 is a beat 'em up based on the animated series, with Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo as playable characters. You fight through stages set in sewers, rooftops, city streets and enemy strongholds, taking on Foot Soldiers and other enemies with combos, aerial attacks, throws and each turtle's own weapon. Defeating enemies earns points that can be spent on new moves, letting you expand each turtle's attack list as you go. Cooperative play lets a second player join in, and boss encounters with characters from the show punctuate the levels. The visuals use cel-shaded models matching the cartoon's designs, with animated cutscenes and voice work between missions. Combat is the focus throughout, with occasional platforming and simple objectives breaking up the fighting.
