Tekken 3 moves the story forward a generation, with Jin Kazama joining a cast that includes newcomers such as Ling Xiaoyu, Hwoarang and the capoeira fighter Eddy Gordo alongside returning veterans. The biggest change to the fighting itself is proper sidestepping, letting you move into the background or foreground to avoid attacks and open up the 3D plane. The four-button limb control scheme, throws, reversals and juggle combos all return. Beyond arcade, versus, team battle, survival and time attack, the PlayStation release adds Tekken Force, a side-scrolling beat-'em-up mode using the fighting engine, and Tekken Ball, a volleyball-style game where you knock a large ball at your opponent with attacks. Completing modes unlocks additional characters and extras.
