Tekken is a 3D one-on-one fighting game and the start of Namco's King of Iron Fist Tournament series. Control uses four attack buttons mapped to the fighter's two arms and two legs, so combinations are built from individual limb strikes rather than punch-strength tiers. Fights are decided over rounds in walled-off arenas, with throws, reversals and juggle combos available depending on the character. The cast covers a range of styles, from Kazuya Mishima and Paul Phoenix to a boxing kangaroo and a wrestler in a jaguar mask, and each fighter has an ending sequence for finishing arcade mode. The PlayStation release adds a Galaga mini-game during loading and unlockable sub-boss characters, plus versus and practice options for two players sharing a console.
