Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines on PlayStation 2 is an action game based on the film, played from a first-person viewpoint. You take the part of the Terminator, working through mission stages that draw on scenes and characters from the movie. Combat mixes gunplay using firearms picked up along the way with close-quarters fighting, and the game switches to hand-to-hand duels for its confrontations with other machines. Human enemies, security forces and Terminator units stand between you and each objective, and stages are structured around clearing areas and reaching set goals. Story sequences using footage and dialogue from the film frame the missions. It is a single-player game throughout.
