Test Drive Off-Road takes the series away from paved streets and onto rough terrain. You race licensed four-wheel-drive trucks and sport utility vehicles across dirt, mud, water crossings and rocky ground, where uneven surfaces launch vehicles into the air and landings matter as much as top speed. Courses are wide and often offer multiple routes, so finding a faster line through the scenery is part of each run. Handling is arcade-oriented, with suspension travel and traction changes across surface types giving the driving a loose, bouncy feel. Vehicles unlock as you progress, and a split-screen option lets a second player race alongside you. Camera options include chase and in-vehicle views on the PlayStation.
