Test Drive Unlimited is an open-world driving game set on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, with a road network you can drive freely rather than a menu of closed circuits. You create a driver, buy a house to store vehicles, and browse dealerships for licensed cars and motorcycles, travelling to each showroom in-game to make a purchase. Events range from point-to-point races and speed challenges to delivery and courier jobs, and they are scattered across the island for you to find while cruising. Handling sits between arcade and simulation, with the emphasis on long high-speed runs along coastal and mountain roads. Money earned from events funds new vehicles, clothing and property. This PlayStation 2 version presents the same island setting and free-roaming structure in a form built for the hardware.
