Tetris Plus brings the familiar falling-block puzzle to the PlayStation alongside an added puzzle mode built around a professor character. In that mode, blocks are stacked above an archaeologist at the bottom of the playfield, and clearing lines lowers the ceiling and the terrain so he can descend safely toward the exit. You have to think about where pieces land rather than only chasing line clears, since a careless stack can crush him or block his path. A more traditional marathon mode is also included for players who just want to rotate and drop tetrominoes at increasing speed, and two-player competitive play is supported. Presentation leans on bright cartoon backdrops and an upbeat soundtrack rather than the minimalist look of earlier Tetris releases.
