The 3rd Birthday is a third-person action game starring Aya Brea, continuing the Parasite Eve series on PSP. You fight twisted creatures across ruined city environments using cover-based shooting with an aiming reticle, switching between firearms as encounters demand. The defining mechanic is Overdive, which lets Aya leap out of her body and into the body of a nearby soldier, instantly repositioning her on the battlefield and letting her keep fighting when her current host is worn down. Charged Overdive attacks can also be driven directly into enemies for heavy damage. Between missions you manage weapons, upgrades, and a grid-based system of gene chips that adjust Aya's abilities. The story is told through cutscenes with fully voiced dialogue, and missions can be replayed at higher difficulty for better equipment.
