The Bouncer is a story-driven brawler for PlayStation 2 in which you play as one of three bouncers working at a bar who are pulled into a kidnapping plot. The story unfolds through cutscenes with branching moments: at certain points you choose which of the three characters to control, and each has different reach, speed, and strength, so scenes play out differently on repeat runs. Combat is a beat-'em-up system with combos, throws, and special moves, and characters earn points between fights that you spend to learn new techniques and raise stats. Outside the main story, a versus mode lets you fight one-on-one using characters unlocked through play. Presentation leans heavily on cinematic direction, with voiced sequences linking the action segments.
