The Fifth Element is an action game for the original PlayStation based on the science-fiction film. You play as both Korben Dallas and Leeloo, switching between them across the game's stages as the story moves through the futuristic city and other locations from the movie. Play is third-person, combining gunfights against soldiers and alien enemies with hand-to-hand fighting, platforming and exploration of enclosed environments. Korben relies more on firearms picked up along the way, while Leeloo favours acrobatic melee attacks. Levels involve finding routes through corridors, ledges and machinery, dealing with hazards and clearing out opposition to reach the next objective. The presentation draws on the film's distinctive design and colour palette, with cutscenes carrying the plot between missions. It is a single-player game using fixed and following camera angles typical of the era.
