A PlayStation 2 action platformer based on Tolkien's novel. You control Bilbo Baggins across stages that follow the book's journey, from the Shire and the trolls' camp through goblin caverns, Mirkwood and on to the Lonely Mountain. Gameplay combines platform navigation with sword fighting using Sting, thrown stones and stealth, and the ring lets Bilbo vanish for short stretches to slip past enemies. Courage earned from objectives and side tasks is spent on improving his abilities. The visual style is stylised and storybook-like rather than realistic, and narration ties the levels to the events of the novel. Familiar characters including Gandalf, Thorin's company, Gollum and Smaug appear as the story progresses through its chapters.
