The Sims 2: Pets is the PlayStation 2 version of the life simulation spin-off centred on animal companions. You create Sims and then add cats and dogs to the household, customising their looks and personality traits before moving into a home you decorate and upgrade. Pets have needs and behaviours of their own: they can be trained to follow commands and perform tricks, or they can misbehave, chewing furniture and making messes. Alongside the usual balancing of hunger, energy, hygiene and social needs for your Sims, the console release structures play around objectives to complete, which unlock additional items and areas. The result is a mix of household management, building and decorating, and looking after animals whose moods respond to how you treat them.
