This PlayStation 2 version of The Sims adapts the life simulation game for console play. You create Sims, choose their appearance and personality traits, and then look after their needs: hunger, hygiene, energy, comfort, fun and social contact. Careers earn money, money buys furniture and appliances, and better possessions make it easier to keep everyone happy. Building and decorating are handled through controller-friendly menus. Along with an open-ended free play mode, there is a goal-driven story mode in which your Sim moves into a house and works toward objectives involving jobs, romance and household improvements, unlocking new locations and items along the way. Sims talk in the series' nonsense language, and the appeal lies in setting up situations and watching how the household reacts.
