Time Crisis 2 is a rail-based light gun shooter for the PlayStation 2, based on the arcade game. You advance automatically through each stage, using the cover system to reload and take shelter, then stepping out to fire at enemies as attack indicators warn of incoming shots. A countdown timer runs throughout and is extended as you clear each section. The game supports the GunCon 2 light gun as well as conventional controller input. Two-player co-operative play puts both agents on screen at once, each covering different angles of the same encounter. Alongside the arcade story mode, the PlayStation 2 release includes additional modes and shooting challenges built around scoring and accuracy. Stages move through outdoor and industrial locations and end with boss confrontations.
