Toy Story 2 for the PlayStation is a 3D action-platformer based on the film, with the same design as the versions released on other consoles of the era. You control Buzz Lightyear as he sets out to rescue Woody from a toy collector. Levels are explorable 3D areas containing a list of objectives, along with tokens and coins hidden around the environment. Buzz can jump, spin attack, fire his laser and glide with his wings, and picks up power-ups and abilities as the game goes on. Stages recreate settings from the movie such as Andy's house, the street outside, Al's Toy Barn and an airport baggage system. Completing objectives opens up later levels, and unfound items give reason to revisit earlier areas.
