Transformers for PlayStation 2 is a third-person action game drawing on the Transformers Armada characters and storyline. You choose between Autobots including Optimus Prime, Hot Shot and Red Alert, each with different weapons, armour and handling, and can switch instantly between robot and vehicle modes to fight or cover ground quickly. Missions take place across large outdoor environments on Earth, where you battle Decepticon forces and destroy defensive emplacements while searching the terrain for hidden Mini-Cons. Collected Mini-Cons attach to your character and grant new abilities and weapon upgrades that carry between stages. Levels build to boss encounters against major Decepticon characters. Combat mixes ranged weaponry with the option to drive through areas at speed, and exploration is rewarded with additional power-ups.
