Transformers: The Game for PlayStation 2 is an action game based on the 2007 live-action film. It offers separate Autobot and Decepticon campaigns, letting you take the side of either faction and play through their version of the story. You control characters such as Optimus Prime and Megatron in open city and desert environments, switching freely between robot and vehicle forms to travel quickly or fight. Combat involves melee attacks, ranged weapons and picking up cars, signposts and other pieces of scenery to throw or use as clubs, with much of the environment able to be smashed. Missions include chases, escort tasks and boss fights against opposing Transformers. Character models and voice work follow the film, and completing objectives unlocks additional playable robots.
