Trap Gunner is a competitive arena game for PlayStation viewed from an overhead angle. Rather than trading shots directly, you plant traps around a compact stage and try to lure your opponent onto them. Mines, spikes, electric floors and other devices can be layered and combined, and characters also carry firearms and melee attacks for close-quarters pressure. Matches play out as a mix of pursuit and misdirection, since a trap you set can just as easily be triggered by you if you lose track of the field. A roster of fighters each bring their own equipment and abilities. The game includes a single-player story path with brief cutscenes for each character, as well as two-player versus matches, which are the focus of the design.
