Treasures of the Deep is an underwater action game for PlayStation in which you pilot submersibles and dive suits through ocean environments. Missions send you down to recover sunken treasure and cargo, explore wrecks and caves, disarm or avoid mines, and deal with hostile submarines and marine life including sharks. Between dives you spend earnings from salvaged goods on upgrades, better craft, weapons and equipment such as improved sonar, giving a loop of exploration followed by outfitting. The three-dimensional undersea settings emphasise limited visibility, currents and navigation, so finding objectives is often as much of a challenge as combat. Objectives vary across missions, mixing recovery tasks with rescue and combat assignments, and the game keeps track of the artifacts and valuables you bring back to the surface.
