Triple Play 2001 is an entry in EA Sports' long-running baseball series for the original PlayStation. You take control of Major League clubs in exhibition games, full seasons, playoff runs and home run hitting contests, with batting handled through swing timing and cursor placement and pitching built around selecting a pitch type and aiming its location. On defense you switch between fielders to make throws and turn double plays, while baserunning uses the face buttons to advance and retreat runners. Season play tracks statistics and standings across the schedule, and roster management lets you adjust lineups and pitching rotations. Commentary and crowd audio back the on-field action, and camera angles shift between pitching, hitting and fielding views. Two players can compete head-to-head on one console.
