Triple Play 2002 is an EA Sports baseball game for PlayStation 2, built around licensed Major League teams, players and stadiums. Batting uses timing and directional input to control your swing, while pitching involves choosing a pitch and placing it in or around the strike zone before the delivery. Fielding switches control to whichever player is nearest the ball, with throws mapped to the face buttons for infield relays and plays at the plate. Modes cover single exhibition games, full seasons with statistics and standings, playoff series, and home run derby-style hitting contests. Rosters and lineups can be edited, and players can be traded or reassigned. The PlayStation 2 version uses more detailed player models and stadium crowds than earlier hardware allowed, with broadcast-style camera work and commentary.
