Triple Play 98 is a PlayStation entry in EA Sports' baseball series. Games are played from a pitcher-and-batter view that switches to a field camera once the ball is in play. Batting comes down to swing timing and directional input, while pitching involves picking a pitch type and steering its location before release. On defense the game hands you the nearest fielder, with base throws on the face buttons. You can play single exhibition games, work through a full season with statistics and standings, chase a championship in the playoffs, or take part in a home run hitting contest. Lineups, rotations and rosters can be adjusted between games. Play-by-play commentary and crowd audio accompany the action, and two players can compete on one console.
