Triple Play Baseball is an EA Sports baseball title for the PlayStation using licensed Major League teams and players. Play centers on the familiar pitcher-batter duel: you choose a pitch and its placement on the mound, then rely on swing timing and directional input when hitting. Once the ball is in play, control passes to the nearest fielder, with throws to each base handled by the face buttons and baserunners advanced or held individually. The game supports single exhibition matches, extended season play with tracked statistics and standings, playoff competition and home run hitting contests, along with roster and lineup editing. Commentary and crowd audio back a broadcast-style presentation with multiple camera angles. Two players can compete head-to-head on the same console.
