Twisted Metal: Head-On on PlayStation 2 is a console version of the handheld entry in the vehicular combat series, packaged with additional content. You pick a driver and armed car, then fight in arenas until you are the last one left, using missiles, mines, machine guns and each vehicle's unique special weapon. Stages are set in various cities and include destructible scenery, ramps and hidden routes. The single-player tournament presents short story sequences for each character. Alongside the main game, this release includes extra material connected to the series' history, plus additional levels and behind-the-scenes content. Local multiplayer is supported in split screen for head-to-head matches.
