Ty the Tasmanian Tiger is a 3D platformer for the PlayStation 2 set in the Australian outback and bush. You control Ty, exploring themed levels reached from hub areas, defeating enemies, gathering collectibles and helping the characters you encounter. Boomerangs are the core mechanic: you throw them at foes, distant switches and puzzle targets, and you unlock additional boomerang types with elemental and special abilities over the course of the game. Ty can also glide, swim, climb and bite at close range. Stages combine platforming, combat and item collection, with optional objectives tucked away for players who want to search. Australian wildlife, landscapes and slang run through the writing and level design.
