Unlimited Saga is a role-playing game for the PlayStation 2 and part of the SaGa series. You pick one of several protagonists, each with a separate scenario and cast, and the plots overlap across a shared world. Rather than free movement through towns and fields, exploration takes place on stylised board-like maps where you advance along a track of panels, triggering encounters, treasure, traps and events. Combat is turn-based and driven by a spinning reel, with the timing of your stop determining how many actions a character can perform. Characters improve through panel-based growth and by learning new techniques in battle, and weapons and tools carry limited durability. Menus, maps and battles are presented largely through illustrated artwork and interface panels rather than fully animated environments.
