Urban Reign is a brawler for the PlayStation 2 in which you fight through a series of short, arena-based street battles. You play as a hired fighter drawn into a conflict between rival gangs over control of a city district. Combat is built around a fighting-game style move set, with grapples, throws, counters, reversals and weapons picked up from the environment such as bats, pipes and knives. Many missions pair you with an AI ally you can command, and fights frequently pit you against several opponents at once, so positioning and crowd control matter. Character progression unlocks additional techniques as you advance through the story. Alongside the main campaign there is a multiplayer mode supporting several players in free-for-all and team matches, with a large roster of fighters unlocked through play.
