V-Rally 3 is a rally driving game for the PlayStation 2, focused on timed special stages rather than wheel-to-wheel racing. You compete in licensed rally cars across countries with distinct surfaces and weather, including tarmac, gravel, snow and dirt, each affecting grip and braking distances. A co-driver calls pace notes ahead of corners, jumps and hazards, and stages must be completed against the clock with penalties for mistakes. Damage is modelled, so bodywork, suspension and mechanical problems accumulate over a rally and can be addressed during service breaks. The career mode moves you through championship seasons, while arcade, time trial and challenge options provide shorter sessions. A car setup system lets you adjust gearing, suspension and other parameters to suit individual stages.
