Valhalla Knights 2 is a party-based role-playing game for the PlayStation Portable. You create a main character and assemble a group of hired companions, selecting races and classes for each and changing their jobs as they progress. Exploration takes you through towns, dungeons, forests and other areas, with quests accepted from guilds and NPCs driving much of the structure. Battles are fought in real time within enclosed encounter areas, where you directly control one character while giving your other party members formations and behaviour settings. Equipment, spells and skills are gathered through shops, drops and quest rewards, and character advancement rewards experimenting with class combinations. Time spent levelling and outfitting the party is central to progress, as enemy strength in later regions rises sharply.
