Vanguard Bandits is a tactical role-playing game in which battles are fought with piloted mechs called ATACs. You maneuver units across grid-based maps where elevation and facing matter, and combat plays out in short animated exchanges where you choose between attack styles and defensive responses, spending a gauge that recharges over time. Pilots gain experience and stats, while the machines themselves can be upgraded and swapped as you acquire new frames. The story is set in a medieval-flavored kingdom torn by war and betrayal, told through portrait-driven dialogue with voice acting between missions. Branching story paths are available at certain points, sending you toward different campaigns and endings depending on your decisions. The pace is deliberate, with an emphasis on positioning, unit matchups and managing your energy for attacks and counters.
